Description

The project focuses on home design providing high quality and comfort in everyday life within limited dimensions. The interior space is conceived as a unique white box like a blank canvas where some elements connect the separated parts of the domestic sphere. In fact, although the various functions are strictly defined by separation walls, the unity is suggested by a long “strip” that wraps all vertical and horizontal surfaces passing through the doors. This never ending strip strongly characterizes the project both in a symbolic and practical way.
This trail symbolically links two distant lands: Berlin and Sicily. Besides being a tribute to our motherland, it lets us paint the white canvas with vivid Mediterranean colours represented by blue and yellow that recall peaceful landscapes. Moreover the maiolica tiles of Caltagirone, with their geometric and abstract decoration, become an ornamental feature for the table-top in the living room and even a framed wall pattern in the bedroom, all the while remaining unobtrusive.
