Description

Project for a family house in Split, Croatia.
House takes references from historical architecture in Croatia, stone houses with small windows, in dense urban surrounding.

Main design goal was to provide privacy, and yet open to the view of the city on one side, and view of the sea on another side. Another goal was to provide natural light, but avoiding direct sun because of climate.

Simply saying, house takes reference from typical workers stone house in city, closed with walls, with patios inside, providing privacy and light.
House opens to the city and to the sea in two big cutouts on sides.
Proteccted by concrete this is HOUSE IN THE HOUSE, because outside concrete walls are actually not house, as house is inside, and its all in glass.

Built from glass boxes, the line between inside and outside disappears, and outside spaces become same important as inside, kitchen extends in patio where is barbeqe, and living room to small pond with fish.

Private spaces of the house, bedrooms and bathrooms are on the first floor from where is also accesible roof.
