The aim of the project for the new Wine Culture Centre ‘Cantina Valpolicella’ in Negrar is to realize an extension of the existing complex, that can optimize and increase the productive process, integrating new cultural activities and spaces linked with the wine-making experience. A new building that can become a symbol for the brand of Valpolicella Negrar, clearly recognisable and at the same time appropriately integrated with the landscape and the existing building.
Fragments. The existing productive complex of the ‘cantina’ is characterized by various buildings realized in different periods, according to the needs of the production.
Grafts + Link. The new building’s masses are conceived as ‘grafts’ in the existing complex, they re-use the main structures of the demolished parts, defining new functional blocks, easily recognisable.
‘Pergola’. The masses of the new building are covered by a new roof that we called ‘pergola’, as the traditional system of grapes-growing in the Valpolicella vineyards. The structure of the roof, with its grid of beams, creates a pattern similar to the vineyard landscape looked from the top.
