Description

Natural features and the unique history of the site, played an important role in the design process. Tehran, once boasting of having numerous gardens, has now lost most of this valuable and unique heritage, and today there remains only a faded outline of its plane tree gardens. Therefore, preserving the trees, as well as the flowing Kariz water, which guarantees the future life of the garden, was one of the design imperatives. Defining 1,2- and 3-bedroom units as 3 basic modules, resulted in making a flexible and visually diverse form which winds among the trees and changes and transforms based on the conditions of each spot. Today, in addition to the gardens, the old alleys of Shemiran, which were the place of social interaction and one of its the most important elements of the sense place, have also disappeared. Another goal was to reconstruct the feeling of the old alleys and reinforce social connections in the project. An interlaced network of elevated paths, gives access to the units and links a series of public spaces as well. These public areas are conceived as unexpected openings looking to the central green space, and are scattered all over the project so that it can encourage and boost movement in the elevated paths. Therefore, a vertical neighborhood is shaped, which will have the potential of forming and strengthening human relations and social connections.
