A self-sufficient village surrounded by an undulating ‘living fabric’ and prefabricated modular home units radiating around the sport arena. Design to work as both sport arena and residential building at the same time. When sport arena is not in full use, a retractable green bridge continues into the arena centre. This mid-rise vertical community module is a sustainable answer to urban compression and urban sprawl. The modular unit including the arena stand and the ‘living fabric’ screen can be erected into any existing or new sport grounds. Thus reducing the construction energy, environmental impact and material waste while enhancing the green field sites.

Rather than a net zero, proposed ‘living fabric’ aims to achieve a net positive environmental impact. Its location would eliminate use of private vehicles completely and encourage walking and use of bikes. The existing green field site would enrich with added biodiversity and minimum harm to existing ground with prefabricated modular units. Use of passive house and insulated recycled wood/plastic composite lumber, vacuum insulation panel windows, recycled steel and sustainable concrete provides best possible carbon foot print for the building envelope. Green energy and smart technology will also enhance the overall design. Adoptive arena with modular homes is a living fabric to raise awareness to sustainable living – how we live.
