Description

Pulling one rope transforms geometry of space to adapt to one of the three events.
This project is received first prize (97 entries) at the competition “Eco-pavilion” for the Supernatural music festival in Belgrade, Serbia. Main requests of the competition were to propagate ecological awareness and to respond to three different types of events – exhibition, lecture, and casual gathering.
Ecobroom responded to the brief as following - low-cost adaptive/interactive pavilion using simple mechanics for adaptation. The project joins parametric, interactive, complex geometry, 0 energy, and low-tech context.
It consists of the hanging ropes and construction, e.g. an adaptation mechanism. Each rope has assigned length. The endings of the ropes form double curved surface. By pulling ropes mechanism rotates. This changes the length of ropes and geometry of the surface accordingly to adapt to three requested occasions.
