The challenge of the contest is designing a 100 meters high fashion tower, containing different exhibition areas for some of the most important fashion houses in the world, just across the Red Square, within the walls of the Kremlin.
Lamè Tower takes shape from the catwalks of haute couture for accommodating eight international fashion houses and proposes to the city of Moscow as every dress should propose itself to a woman: well structured versatile but elegant in its simplicity.
The goal is to transpose into architectural language the characteristics of a dress: the concept is a high fashion dress, but the project is not limited to its reproduction in building, it is also extended to the analysis of the whole composition: fabric, color, manufacture. Bodice, skirt and train become three blocks corresponding to the functions of Lamè: runway, showroom for fashion houses and skybar. In addition, the warp and weft of the fabric become an outer double skin of glass panels with integrated photovoltaic cells and LED bars; the dynamism of the fabric become an oblique cut from east to west, from bottom to top, composed by panels with lamellae with integrated photovoltaic cells, able to rotate along the horizontal axis to follow the path of solar durng the day and rotate 180° in the evening bringing outside two LED bars; the possible change of color of the dress is represented by the media façade that shows at night in order to project animations on the outer surface of the building.
Glass like fabric, PV / LED for color, solar tracking for plasticity: a real dress for a tower, like a model who shows off her best outfits.
