Description

Patmos is a small Greek island in the Aegean Sea. It belongs the Dodecanese islands complex. Patmos is mentioned in the Christian scriptural Book of Revelation. The book's introduction states that its author, John, was on Patmos when he was given (and recorded) a vision from Jesus. Early Christian tradition identified this writer John of Patmos as John the Apostle, though some modern scholars are uncertain. As such, Patmos is a destination for Christian pilgrimage. A cross is a geometrical figure consisting of two lines or bars perpendicular to each other, dividing one or two of the lines in half. The lines usually run vertically and horizontally; The cross is one of the most ancient human symbols, and has been used by many religions, most notably Christianity. It is frequently a representation of the division of the world into four elements (Chevalier, 1997) or cardinal points, or alternately as the union of the concepts of divinity, the vertical line, and the world, the horizontal line (Koch, 1955). A Real Estate Agency situated in Chora of Patmos (capital city) was designed respecting the local architecture and re-interpreting the surrounding landscape and the presence of symbols as an interior design element. Straight lines that leads to perspective views, while gaps on the ceiling are fulfilled with light, as happens while natural light enters through noncontinuous volumes. Metal, wood and ornate tiles were the main materials used.
