Description

The renovation of the apartments results in a larger unit on the second floor with a master bedroom on the first floor, and a smaller studio situated completely on the first floor. The entrance in the main apartment on the second floor is a rather small but functional entrée from where all other rooms are accessible. The main living area is a bright and open space of around 23 m2 with kitchen, dining table and sofa seating. The respective open and closed character of the rooms are accentuated by colours and texture. The entrance as an elegant and introverted but welcoming space, is covered in darker materials, such as darker HPL wall cladding, wood covering on the ceiling, and for grey industrial flooring, for example. Such design emanates an intimate and warm “womb-like” feeling right at the entrance of the house. A suspended ceiling with downlights accentuates the cosiness and elegance of the space, while also covers all the necessary installations. This formal element of the ceiling is extended towards the kitchen, which is also of a darker elegant colour, analog to the entrance walls. In this way, the elegance of the darker textures protrudes into the living space.

On the other hand, the materials used in the living area - bright oak parquet, white textile sofa, yellow plastic chairs - are bright and cosy, accentuating the openness of the space even more. Large indoor plants on the corners bring freshness and nature in the main space.
The rather small terrace is made functional by adding a long board on the railings which allows for a three to four seating for breakfasts or evening drinks. Wooden covering on the floor and plants bring freshness in the small space. A mirror on the opposite side wall virtually enlarges the terrace.

The dark and elegant floor from the entrée continues towards the stairs, which from the lead downstairs to the master bedroom area. A spacious bedroom is hidden behind the door and a wall of opaque glass. The colours in the bedroom are, like in the living area, bright and welcoming. The large room-high closet in front of the bed has a cover in the middle which opens and leaves place for the TV. Additional storage and closet space are situated under the stairs, where on the highest part, sliding doors lead into a small masters’ bathroom.

The space of the studio is, while more modest in size, designed similarly, with elegant darker palette on the entrance and a bright and fresh colour palette in the living area.
