The function of this space is to use it as a home office. It would be a work-from-home area. Given that the space also goes outside, we will likely use the space to also access the outdoor patio and fire pit area outdoors.
We are looking to keep the mountain rustic look of the room (keep some wood paneling) and add some mountain modern updates through the conversion process: New windows, 7-8ft bi-fold doors, drywall over the lower windows (lower small windows to be removed/deleted). Looking for lots of light, so added and replacement ‘can’ lights and removing the skylight since it gets too hot in that room and given that the skylights are broken due to snow and ice. Add new tile to floors- something like a fake light grayish color wood ceramic tile. Since the floors are radiant heated, need notye to be careful in demolishing the existing tile to keep radiant floor polybutylene pipes or we abandon? Maybe simply use a mini-split addition- we would like a recommendation if you think we should cut off the radiant in that zone and simply put in a mini-split AC and heater.
Added: Would you please show a way to add a built-in small closet somewhere? 2 ft deep x 3 ft wide? One idea is to abandon one of the interior windows and build one in there. I have uploaded a photo of the possible location.
