Description

The project proposal focuses on reconfiguring an existing living room in order to create a functional and aesthetic spatial configuration.

The main entrance leads to an open space that accommodates a living room and a dining area. Given the client’s brief the existing sofa, TV cabinet, entrance cabinet and dining table are kept as part of the reconfiguration. A wood wall partition is added to the back of the sofa to accommodate a small working area with a desk and a chair. The dining space is shifted towards the center of the open space and an extra armchair is added to the sofa area. The left wall next to the entrance becomes a storage area for shelves, a mirror and cabinets. To make better use of the existing furniture, new finishes and paint are added to the TV cabinet modules.

In terms of materiality, the proposal focuses on using wood and a neutral and color palette with white and grey tones that enhance the natural light and create the impression of wider and larger rooms. The wall finishes are mainly concrete, contrasting the walls, the wooden floors and the wood furniture.

In conclusion, the design approach aims to be minimalistic and non-intrusive, meanwhile generating a fluent and operational space that is both cost-efficient and practical.
