This is a detached house with only the ground floor. It is a house for the holidays. Now the house is about 60sqm large but is going to be enlarged to 88sqm with a rectangular extension of the existing building. The house was built in the 90s but it is in good condition. It is the depandance of a bigger estate which is split into two independent rooms/suites. The building is upon a bank that looks at the Argentario mountain and the Isola del Giglio. Under this bank there is a copse wood of 6 ha.
There isn’t a heating system. There are two boilers in the two existing bathrooms.
The floor is made of pink-coloured marble and it is in good condition but we don’t like it much.
We want to extend the building and obtain a single apartment. The extension will be built on the western side of the building. We’d like to transform it in a “green building” (mainly using wood), so also the exterior could be different than the one in the picture (Maybe we will use wood or stone or wood that seems masonry. Talking about the heating, we’d like a Thermo Fireplace. We haven’t got the possibility to use natural gas.
We can’t figure out the domestic hot water but we don’t like the boilers.
In the future, maybe also in the near future, we’d like to build another edifice of 55sqm next to the existing building and the exterior of this new building could be similar to the exterior of the extension.
We’d really love to have a wide open space that includes the living area and the kitchen. For this reason we’re uncertain about other rooms: we don’t know if it is better to have only one bedroom or two bedrooms and the same with the bathroom, we don’t know if it is better to keep the two bathrooms or to have only one bath. We don’t need a big master bedroom. We don’t want a modular kitchen.
In the western part of the house (the part where the extension will be) we’d like to have a well-lightened area, with a broad corner window or a big rectangular window on one side.
We’d like basic furniture, with natural elements (stone, wood, steel). We absolutely don’t like country style, we want a mix of modern style and natural elements.
We don’t have a very high budget, so we don’t want to make very big changes. We want ideas, we want to know if it is better to have one or two bedrooms, one or two bathrooms. We’d like to have ideas about the external part of the house, here we’d like infact to build a porch that may cover 40% of the available space. Unfortunately we can’t build it wider than 2,5 meters, so we think that it may be unuseful and we don’t know if it is worth the expense.
So maybe we could build a pergola that we can use also in the winter.
In front of the house there is a path made of porphyry cobbles, we don’t know it keep them as they are or if replace them with a green area and use the cobbles elsewhere.
Where there will be the porch or the pergola we’d like to keep the actual flooring.
We’d like the porch/pergola to be similar to the natural style used for the interior design.
The window fixtures are in good condition, they are made of white wood and have double glazing. We’d like to place light iron gratings on the external part of the windows to feel safer when we’re inside. We don’t like them though but even if the area is calm, the house is very isolated.
There are also some automatic rolling shutters at the window that may be eliminated.
We like to mix different styles. (in general the styles we like are natural, vintage, nordic, provenza, industrial, minimal, ecc not rustic, country, total shabbychic..). this house must be solid/sturdy, simple/natural, warm/friendly.
