Hi everybody!
We are a young couple and we bought a new apartment of 70 square meters. To give you an idea, we have attached some pictures of how the house has been furnished by former owners. We want to completely refurnish the apartment (only parquet will remain) and give a new modern look; we are also happy to consider a renovation (changing some walls and layouts, even if we prefer solutions with less modifications as possible). We want a brand new bathroom and we will repaint the walls. That’s why we ask for your support and your ideas for interior design, furnitures, colors and lights of the rooms! Please find below some indications for every room, even though we need your creativity most for the living / kitchen area (where spaces are limited) and for rest area. We’d like a modern, functional apartment but also cozy.
Entrance / Living:
– It’s the room that we live most and we want a functional and confortable space
– The current living room is also the entrance of the house and we are a bit worried because we really use this space a lot: we use to relax and watch TV on the sofa afterwork and we like to have also a comfortable area to have dinner with friends.
– We are looking for ideas, but we are sure that we do not like the current solution (see pics) because the TV is uncomfortable to see and positioned between the table and the sofa (and is practically in the hallway).
– We are looking for innovative solutions on how to arrange dining table, sofa and TV (we want to reuse our 46 “+ decoder, surround, etc.).
– We would also like to have some alternative solution on how to use the niche, not only as a library, but possibly as a small dressing / hanger.
– Please note that the only window in the living room opens onto a internal courtyard which is dark. Below the window there is a radiator.
– Probably we should relocate living room in the apartment (for example switching it with the studio/guest room?) for a better position.
Kitchen
– As it is very narrow, we would like to use both sides, maybe creating a snack corner and adding kitchen cabinets on the blank wall (the aircon remains).
– You have to redesign the kitchen furnitures completely. Feel FREE to choose the color that matches the rest of the house.
– We like the idea of a thin sliding door or similar between the kitchen and living room, even if we have doubts about closing the open-space and remove light.
– Is it possible to move kitchen or remove walls (partially or totally) to create a bigger space.
– Wash machine could be located here (hidden in the kitchen furnitures)
Main bedroom
– It ‘s the one in front of the bathroom. The only indication is to have the largest possible wardrobe and a bed with mattress at least 2 mt. long.
Other Bedroom / Study
– Base case is a small study / guest bedroom. We need at least one wardrobe, we would like to have a desk, bed/sofa and possibly a space for painting.
– In the room there is a small storeroom, that can be moved and relocated.
– This room can be also relocated.
Bathroom
– We would like to harmonize it with the rest of the house and we want to change everything: wall tiles, floor, furnitures, shower box, toilet, bidet, radiator.
– The washing machine can be located here because of the pipes and hydraulic systems.
We don’t have a pre-definite budget, we like design furnitures (no Ikea), we don’t like red as wall painting color.
EDIT: because of multiple questions, we have decided to open the contest to the possibility to change some walls and rooms. Options with less modifications anyway will be preferred. For example one possibility is to switch guest room and living room: we can create a open living space merging guestroom with current kitchen.
EDIT2: important to underline that there are 2 load-bearing columns in the center of the apartment; one is at the corner between bathroom and current living room; the other is in the strange-shaped column at the corner between studio and kitchen (the load-bearing part is in the horizontal face on the living room).
Feel free to ask whatever you need.
We hope we have explained clearly our needs.
Good Luck!
Francesco & Noemi
