Description

The main purpose of design is to create a house that will be functional for the people who live in it. At the same time I tried to design a space that will take advantage of the plot’s view.

As for the circulation of the complex, when someone parks his/her car, he/she can enter from the main entrance. Afterwards someone can go from the entrance hall (which includes a closet) either to the first zone of the secondary spaces which are the laundry/storage room, the bathroom and the staircase to the upper rooms or head to the main living area and the kitchen. This main circulation leads to the exterior living space, the exterior kitchen and the pool area. The idea is to have a path that connects all the common functions of the building and can lead someone from the entrance to the exterior. Furthermore, there is a secondary path that connects the pool area, the exterior living area and the parking area and can be useful as it connects all the exterior spaces. Also, there is a secondary entrance next to the parking which connects directly with the staircase area which leads to the basement and to the first floor.

The northwest zone of the building has all the auxillary functions like the laundry/storage room, the bathroom and the staircase. It creates a visual filter as someone enters the plot. On the other hand all the living areas of the house are at its southeast side. This happens to take advantage of the plot’s view and expand the interiors to the exterior by creating spaces without borders in&out. The kitchen is separated with the living area and a fireplace is placed centrally between the sitting area and the dinning area. The staircase is placed at a strategic spot next to the entrance and creates a nice element visible before entering in the house. The first floor was organized with the same concept as the ground floor. The auxillary functions like the bathrooms and the staircase are placed at the northwest zone. The bedrooms are placed at the southeast side and take advantage of the plot’s view with big windoors. Furthermore they can expand to the exterior balcony.

All the exterior spaces unfold to exploit the different altitudes of the plot. With this way there are created different “nests” that someone can sit. The goal is that every habitant will be able to find its own spot, but at the same time flow between spaces will connect them.

As for the materials they are used finishes with natural feeling and stone walls which indicate the main path of the house. The stone could be replaced by local bricks too.

For the planting I have used mediterenean species. Low aromatic plants have been placed near the living spaces of the house to create nice atmosphere while trees and bushes have been placed for shading and visual borders.

At last I would like to mention that if it is obligatory the border wall can be moved to have parking or planting zone.

All these create a comfortable interior space which takes advantage of the view and an exterior space which unfolds to the plot and makes the living area of the house bigger.
