Main goal for this design was creating spacious, warm and comfortable new home while respecting found structure of an old villa.
Ground floor is designed as a large open space living and dining area hosting family and friends in indoor and outdoor space. Kitchen area expends through two large balcony doors into porch for outdoor gathering around table or garden view with small pool/playground. Study is incorporated with living room and can be transformed into kids play area in case of big family events. Enclosed garage with workshop/storage space has a separate entrance and it is well connected with main hall.
First floor is designed as private area consisting of two bedrooms, guest room and spacious master bedroom with their own terrace overlooking garden.
In order to make house energy and cost efficient, most of supporting facade elements are preserved, inner layout is changed but maintained main structural positions so there is no need for new foundation works. Making most of its good orientation all daily areas, porch and bedrooms are facing south while communications, bathrooms and garage are located on the north. Sealing porch with movable glass wall partitions gives the opportunity to enjoy it all year round and in the same time generate greenhouse passive heat for warming house in winter time. Balcony doors facing south are widen letting more light into space and making this modern villa into lovely home.
