The derived design solution is to make the living, hallway, dining and kitchen an open plan to make it feel and look more spacious through continuity of space.
To achieve this, existing visual obstruction such as walls has to be limited and make the space more open to each type of area and using loose and low furniture to separate them instead. Few of the walls along the hallway which separated the kitchen, living and bedroom are proposed to be demolished to make room for new access. The hallway as a whole was made part of the Living room while the Dining area is combined in the kitchen. To define separation within the the areas, new arch portals are proposed to the entry hall of bedrooms and of the Kitchen/Dining while the space vacated by the existing living room is converted into a Rumpous hall (Study cum guest room).
A Study cum guest room which has been presented in 2 variations (one with a solid wall partition accessed through a door, and the other with full glass partition in steel frames accessed through 2 sliding glass panels) will accommodate stay-in guests that will also function as a home office provided with full- height book shelving, a study table set and daybed that can both be a working sofa or guest sleeping. Since there is no individual room for safe keeping, storage has been fully considered and maximized in this project. Walls are invested to accommodate display and storage
as you may review in the selection of furniture.
