Project description

The questions leading the entire design are

"What is the best way to feel the raw Pasta before it gets done?"

"How to experience the feeling of diving your hands into a pasta package just looking at the materials?"

"How to create the feeling that all the pasta restaurants miss? The tactile factor"

The answer is turning this perception into looking and experiencing materials, using a sustanible design able to involve people in the process, materality and tradition of Pasta.

The design of the space is based on 3 main key words: cleanliness, durability and comfort.

Furniture
Tables, stools and chairs are designed in order to exalt colors, beauty and quality of pasta. Pasta must be the main character of the entire space, enlighted by a white/neutral background.
The stainless surfaces of the forniture are designed for an easy cleaning and for giving an idea of a nice familiar clean space.

Wooden cladding and ceiling
The wooden layer is designed as a multi-size-type of milling slats. Thanks to this element, the entire space has a continuos technical shaft (for sprinkler, ventilation, cables, etc).
This cladding makes people feel the roughness of the uncooked Pasta.

Bar
This element has the same multi-size-type of milling slats of the cladding and ceiling. This is the start, where the customers begin their experience, waiting for the meal. The rough material helps the customers to get even more involved into the homemade process of producing pasta.

Flooring
Floors are in Linoleum. This material, when used with a grunge texture, is perfect to hide the foot prints of customers.
Linoleum has also a special no-slip treatment; it is stainless and easy to clean.
