Description

The whole apartment is conceptualised to be a modern and sleek design which at the same time can accommodate classical and industrial elements.

On the ground floor, the classical doors are replaced with a sleek, modern door with opaque glass panel on one side and a steel awning above.

The first floor is designed to embrace the juxtaposition of classical furniture and modern living. Simple furniture is used throughout the rooms to highlight the presence of the Client's antique furniture. Muted and earthy tones are used to blend harmoniously with the tiles selected by the Client, with the exception of the library which is painted in deep blue to create a feeling of immersion and calm. Potted plants are placed in almost every room to soften the "dryness" of the rooms and provide a sense of life throughout the apartment.

Although the Client has decided to use tiles for the floor finish, I have decided to propose the use of timber flooring to provide a sense of coziness and warmth, especially in the bedrooms and library.

On the second floor, the Client has requested for a more industrial themed design, thus the colours of the walls some with exposed brick work, are painted white or left raw. Monochrome colour is selected for the furniture. The AV Room is the exception where bright accents are used to provide more vibrance the space.

There are also options of either having darker coloured floor tiles for the Living & Kitchen Area (except the bedrooms and AV Room which have timber floor boards) or beige coloured floor tiles that spill into the Garden Patio thus blurring the boundaries of internal and external space.

At the BBQ Deck, sitting terraces/platforms are proposed along one side of the perimeter wall to allow guests to climb up and have a spectacular view into the square below as well as the town's skyline.

The bigger and more private roof patio can be used for outdoor dining during the warmer seasons by the occupants.

With this design, I hope to have not only met all the Client's intentions but as well as enhance their ideas in order for them to achieve their dream looks for their apartment building.
