Post Industrial 2 Bedrooms Apartment

• General description:
o The apartment will be a residence for two people (45/50 years old) and one cat.
o We expect it to be our home for the next 10-15 years, at least
Occasionally, it could host:
• Until 10/12 people for lunch/dinners
• A couple for weekends / 1 week
Needs:
• (M) In each room, there might be one (or more) restriction/s, coming from the furniture of the old apartment. These furnitures have to be integrated into the project unless differently indicated.
• (M) Architectural solutions, materials and colours (for flooring and covering), chosen by the manufacturer, are not changeable unless separately specified.
• (P) Each room should have predominant colours and these need to be different in every room. However, in those cases where the different spaces of the apartment are strongly integrated (as, for example, kitchen and living room) or they could eventually become integrated for structural changes (i.e. single room and double room), it’s strongly recommended to take such specific condition into account in the chromatic evaluation and choices.
• (P) Only if possible, potentially in any area of the whole apartment, aluminium shelves coming from the old living room should be used (to host many books).
• (P) Light and furniture schemes are welcome.
• Reference:
To provide a reference to the preference regarding colours, materials, and design solutions, please find attached few pictures of the old apartment. These images are easily identifiable as it is written “OLD”.
• Description for each specific environment
• Entrance
o Restrictions : none
• Main bathroom for guests
o Restrictions: none
o Needs: To install a shower box and, particularly, sliding rail for the shower head and hand shower. We are also open to the possibility of a fixed shower head.
• Storage closet
o Restrictions: none
• Living room:
o Restrictions :
• Bookcase (see pictures of the bedroom in the “old one bedroom apartment”) that will be updated and integrated by suspended containers/ TV shelf/cabinets. Bays number can be reduced, if necessary.
o Needs :
• Space should host furniture (to be purchased ) as:
• A table (reduced size but able to host 4/6 people) and, in any case, expandible up to 10/12 people. (reference manufacturer: “Calligaris”)
• Sofa “relax style” (eventually angle and/or modular system)
– (P) one/two chaise longue (Reference manufacturer: “Poltrone & Sofà”).
– Highly robust and easy to manage fabrics
• Kitchen
o (P) Furniture coming from the kitchen of the old apartment (with the exception of the refrigerator module (see pictures of the kitchen in the old apartment). Modules for furniture and suspended furniture have to be newly combined according to the specific new kitchen space and also considering the basic services sources locations (water, gas and electricity ) or, if necessary, furniture for the kitchen to be purchased from scratch.
o (M) Free installation refrigerator (see link: https://www.mediaworld.it/mw/lg-gsj960pzbz or similar unit ).
o 1 table and 2/3 seats coming from the living room of the old apartment (see related picture as a reference).
Note: if a new set of furniture for the kitchen becomes a need, space for these domestic appliances is required :
– Dishwashing machine
– Oven
– Burner with 4 flames
– Kitchen sink (with 1 sink )
– Microwave oven
• Laundrette:
o Restrictions: none, with the exception of the Washer/Dryer machine coming from the old apartment.
• Loggia 1 ( “day side”)
o Needs:
• Space for flowers/plants (this side of the apartment faces west side, enlighted from afternoon until late in the evening)
• (if needed) Space to be devoted to lunches /dinners, by using the foldable table located in the kitchen (coming from the old apartment living room) able to host till 6 people).
• Space to address also a little open air area for the cat to play
• Single Bedroom
o Needs:
• (start by saying that, at the light of the embedded bathroom, this room will become the master bedroom with a double bed) I am considering 3 to 4 scenarios:
• Scenario 1: (keeping the wardrobe cabin, eventually moving its access to the side of the bed and using sliding door) opening a single/double additional sliding door to have direct access to the double room, so to make the single bedroom less suffocated and make the double bedroom (used for 95 % of its time) -as studying and reading room- even more accessible.
• Scenario 2: (keeping the wardrobe cabin, eventually moving its access to the side of the bed and using sliding door), in front of the double bed, placing a new wardrobe.
• Scenario 3: to eliminate wardrobe cabin, and having more space to put a new and wardrobe.
• Scenario 4: other.
Note:
– Double bed with embedded container (see picture from the old bedroom apartment ) (mattress size cm 200×160)
– New wardrobe to purchase from scratch.
• Bathroom (in the single bedroom) embedded
o Rescrictions:
• (M): Suspended furniture and mirror coming from the old bathroom apartment (see related picture)
• To install a shower box and, particularly, to install a shower box and, particularly, a sliding rail for the shower head and hand shower. We are also open to the possibility of a fixed shower head.
• Double Bedroom
o Needs:
• Space to be devoted to “Studying and Reading” room (95% of the time) and as a bedroom for 2 guests when required (5% of the time).
o Restrictions:
• (M) Wardrobe coming from the old bedroom apartment (see related pictures )
• (P) sofa (with 2 people-bed incorporated) coming from the old living room apartment
Note: This bedroom will be designed, according to which of the 3 /4 scenarios proposed for the “single bedroom” will be chosen and implemented.
• Loggia 2 (“Nightside”)
o Space for two armchair and a little height table for outdoor.
Note:
The Dwg file is the file of the entire third floor of the complex, but the apartment in question is easily recognisable with the ID number 7308.
The building is the same of the ex Manifatture Tabacchi in Milan.
