Description

PLAYING WITH LIGHT
Playing with natural lighting is vital. The western facade is discrete and anonymous, where few windows are integrated with the shelfs. The eastern facade, with vast panes of glass, opens fully to the pool and the garden area, so the light enters directly into the interior. Openings in the roof to the south allow the house to get the necessary energy to become a passive house.
Natural lighting and the proportion of spaces also help differentiate the character of each space; from more public to more private.

GROUND FLOOR
The living-room is the main “public space”. It can be extended to the outside through two glass panes, thus amplifying the feeling of connection with the environment, enhanced by the presence of the elements water, vegetation, wood and sky.
Its walls are built of cheap concrete bricks that play with a softer and warmer plastered surface integrated by light.
The rooms area is private, compact, generous and discreet. Its corridor connects the garage with the living-room area. All measures are handicap-friendly.

WOOD
The structure has a main beam north-south but it is not situated on the axis of the house, so there is a wider space without pilars for the living-room. The roof is still a gabled roof, but its architectonic game with inclinations opens some upper windows that give extra light and efficiency.

FIRE PLACE & POOL
The concrete pool wall is placed behind the fire place, which transfers heat to the water. It is located at an upper level (optional). During winter it will work as a great energy storage, due to the thermal capacity of water. It is a key part in the passive house concept.

FURNITURE
There is quite a lot of fully integrated furniture design, such as the kitchen, shelfs, benches, barbecue and closets.
It allows us to choose fewer but well designed furniture.
