Description

The initial idea was to design an exterior space which creates different corners to relax and at the same time there is flow at the circulation. The aim is to have spaces with different qualities that can create cozy atmosphere, service all the needs for exterior summer living and always taking advantage of the view.

The first step was to divide the expansion of the exterior space at a small terrace which works like “exterior entrance hall”, the main new terrace and the swimming pool at a distribution which takes advantage of the view and fills the requirement for the infinity effect.

The next step was to separate the pool at a shallow part which is the zone from where you enter the pool and contains the spa area, too. This helps to divide the main new terrace at the sitting area and at the solarium area. Between those two areas there is a space, which is the center of the terrace and connects the existing covered terrace, the sitting area, the solarium area and the swimming pool. The sitting area is covered with a pergola to create cool atmosphere when someone relaxes. It is placed at the north part of the design because according to the sun orientation it doesn’t create shadow at the pool and the solarium area (at these areas we want sun). It has an exterior living area with firepit and an exterior dinning area. The solarium area is placed on the south and has no optical borders so that someone can lay on the sunbeds and enjoy the sea view in front of the swimming pool. It has sunbeds and lounge sittings like poufs and big pillows.

The exterior entrance hall terrace is placed at a lower lever from the main terrace and the swimming pool and beyond you can place the technical room. This area works as a quick stop for those who enter the house and go at the existing covered area from where you can enter the building or the main terrace. It helps not to go up all the way directly from the garage to the level of the main terrace. There is also an exterior douche where someone can make a quick wash after the pool, while he enters the house after the beach or if it’s too hot. For this reason there is a secondary connection with the solarium area.

As for the planting I propose high bushes to create visual borders to those who enter and the passengers of the street with the terrace. So someone can relax without being disturbed (there is also significant level difference between the parking area and the terrace and this helps someone not to be seen while he relaxes). At the welcome area I propose an olive tree to be as a signage for the entrance area and create a smooth shadow. I also propose low aromatic bushes to create a secondary visual border and at the same time create a nice summer atmosphere which wakes up memories through senses. They are placed near the welcome area, the solarium and the dinning. My intention was to maintain for garden the most areas that already have plants. So it is up to your decision which existing plants you would like to keep or remove.

As the general palette of the project I propose bright and warm materials in order to create a cozy and summer atmosphere. For the floor I propose big sand colored tiles with stone effect and for the pool a special beize plaster. These materials create a rough sense and natural aesthetic.
I also chose furniture with bright fabrics and wood. For the exterior living area I propose a degraded built in sofa (like the renders) but if you want you can place a sofa and lounge chairs as those that I propose at the furniture list.

All these aimed to create an exterior space which will seduce people to live at it during the whole day and night time of the summer. It offers spaces with different qualities that serve different needs, desires and make the living easy. On top of all these is the feeling that this area expands to the sea because of its beautiful view.
