The Cottage is a minimal style Out House with very high transparency. My design thought is to not give one single entry to the building. It is kept open from all possible directions for the client to enter as per convenience. The cottage is exposed to all the features around it. The residence, The garden, Swimming pool, Dining area, Outdoor Sitting etc. Since i am not much aware of the Italian Flora & Fauna, I couldn't figure out what all plantation would be suitable for the garden, still i have kept scope for plantation of personal choice everywhere. The cottage has many spots for a fireplace to keep you calm in the winters. The swimming pool can serve many purposes except for swimming. It is a great view for the Dining space, It is partially connected with the outdoor sitting. The common toilet at the ground floor can be used as changing room for swimming. A spiral staircase adds an extra beauty to the cottage. It also revolves around, making you look at all 4 directions of the Site and enjoying the beauty of your gardens at both sides and the pool area.
Materials : The building has very less number of walls, which can be of any material as per convenience. Structure has been kept in Mind while designing so that it is easy for the structural engineer to figure out complex junctions. For the jali patterns, Glass or wood can be used as per vernacular materials.
Bedroom : The bedroom is placed at the first floor with a bigger veranda where you can sit and relax, can light fire during cold winter nights.
The Bed has been provided with a skylight so as the gaze stars till you fall asleep. (this promotes mindfulness and you sleep better)
Drawbacks :
1- The space is too open which can be harsh during winters if it is very cold in that season.
2- the goodness of the open style can be compromised in storm and rainfall prominent regions.
3- It would stand out of the local buildings as it is a bit different in terms of the design concept ( Minimalism)
"Note : Please excuse me with the plantations, as i do not know anything about the Italian Flora. Though i have kept the space very flexible for indoor and outdoor plantations. The veranda with the bedroom can also be turned into your indoor garden. You can also provide a slab cutout right above the Veranda so as to make it Indoor/Outdoor garden. For now, Considering the rains, I have kept it closed."
