Description

Casa "Sundance"

Dear Client,

Thank you so much for the lovely opportunity to work on such a nice topic.

I did my best to compose this proposal according to your design inputs, and hopefully to your liking.
I'd like to add a couple of comments to further explain my drawings.

Approach path is designed in the way you wanted, on the west side of the plot.
The softly curved ramp allows a gently choreographed and discreet entrance into the house.

All of the utilities (garage, laundry, plant room and storage) are located on the ground floor and oriented towards north.
Living spaces and bedrooms are facing south, east and west.

The entire house is organized around two main spatial accents: the Stairs and the Fireplace.
They sit in a large double height void, visually connected to each other. Although the fireplace is put on the front facade in the middle between the lounge and dinning areas, it does not obstruct the view, for it is elevated and one can see through it. It is approachable from the porch, as well as from the interior. Around the fireplace circles a bench continually, thus straightening the relation between the inner room and the front yard.

The roof geometry allows for indirect illumination of the central void, as well as influx of western sunlight into the bedrooms on the east side.
Slightly widened corridor on the upper floor , makes room for the study room, facing the forest on the north side.

Intricate fenestration should allow a constant, and yet natural and soft change of colors within the house, in dependence on the time of day.
Hence, the project name.

Enjoy!

Sincerely yours,
Architect
