Background
This Project concerns a family house located in Central Europe, Luxembourg, in a residential area of families villas. The House is on a 6 acres lot, free on 3 sides, occupying a space of 9w x 10l meters. It is an old construction of the ’50s completely renovated in the 70’s; in 2011 the roof and the exterior part renovated again. The house does not need renovation works.
Project
The request is to propose a restyling of the ground floor of circa 90sqm currently divided in: entrance/hall, dining room, living room, kitchen w/storage, little bathroom. The House presents a strong character, as any old building, and we would like to respect its own style. However as it is addressed to serve a family of 4 people (2 adults, 2 little child) the aim is to furnish it in a modern way, i.e. give a hint of modernity while respecting its own personality. Solution with fireplace highly appreciated 🙂
Constraints
Living and Dining areas have a natural oak parquet (old style floating) and we want to keep it.
We prefer to keep the kitchen separated to avoid cooking smells from spreading around the house. A solution based on a movable separation could be considered though.
