Description

It was an interesting challenge to reorganize your apartment into contemporary space for whole family, while providing privacy and comfort for each member.

Existing plan is quite traditional in its approach to everyday comfort. There are 3 main factors of reconstruction of this apartment:
- connecting kitchen and dining area with bedroom thus creating large open day area
- stretching the bathroom and creating neat and easy to use bathroom area
- Converting 2 large bedrooms into Master bedroom and 2 smaller Single bedrooms

The middle wall is load bearing wall so it still defines the reconstruction approach, and it is necessary to work the new layout around it. One of the openings are being closed off so the extra space will provide shower area. The opening closer to entrance leads to small hallway that connects 3 separate Bedrooms.

New layout provides strong distinction of day and night zones. Each zone has it’s own balcony so there is a comfort that extends outside for both day and night areas without interconnecting them.

Vast open space living room with tall ceiling has fresh atmosphere that connects living and dining areas. Smart layout still makes clear distinction between these two zones while TV being visible from kitchen/dining area.

Wardrobe and shoes storage is introduced to entrance area next to the entrance door. There is no need for a wall at this specific point, as the joinery successfully defines the difference between entrance area and day area. Demolishing of a small portion of existing wall gives needed depth for new wardrobe and shoes storage. Another joinery storage find place across entrance door and next to bathroom door. This could be used for storing house cleaning equipment and/or small appliances.

Bathroom is stretching towards entrance area and keeping most of existing layout. All elements are organized leaning to the upper wall, leaving the wall on the opposite side clear, with only towel hangers and bidet at it’s original position. Shower is tucked into newly formed space, thus leaving more empty space for using other bathroom elements. New bathroom layout makes it easier to use with more clear space for walking and storing bathroom utensils.

Existing door in the entrance area (on the left, closer to the entrance) is demolished. Sliding door/panel covers the opening to night zone. New hallway, formed around the load bearing wall, comfortably connects the 3 Bedrooms while still being quite small in its square meters size.

Master Bedroom, being the largest, has huge wardrobe from wall to wall, floor to ceiling and king size bed. There is plenty of space to walk around the room so there is no sacrificing the comfort or dealing with bare minimums in terms of space usage.

Small bedrooms are layed out in such way that all elements of a comfortable bedroom for young people are there. Large wardrobe joinery, desk and bed are organized so that they offer ease of use every day.
