This project focuses on the conversation of the first floor of an old warehouse into a loft and aims to accomplish the following objectives laid out by the client:
1. Provide an open space loft with living, dining, kitchen, one bedroom, bathroom, and laundry room.
2. Incorporate an industrial style preserving the existing cellular steel beams with circular openings
3. Build minimum masonry to partition interior spaces
4. Insert new skylights and new windows on south wall to have adequate ventilation/illumination.
5. Possibly create an area for home gym/fitness.
6. Resin flooring and bathroom with sculpted bath/shower area
The result is a sleek, minimal loft with a foyer, an open space kitchen living, a bedroom with walk-in wardrobe, a large bathroom on the upper level, and a combined space for laundry and fitness gym on the intermediate level. The lower level of the building houses a laboratory and is not subject to intervention. The entire floor is accessible by a ramp and the connection between the upper and intermediate level is also through a ramp to provide barrier-free access. The materials used are grey resin flooring, black powder coated metal lighting and furniture with wooden accents. Exposed HVAC ducts inserted through steel beams and a metal grid ceiling over dining and kitchen complete the look.
