living room for a large family

Hi everyone,
I’ve recently moved in a new house and my old furniture doesn’t match with the living room, I’ve so decided to change it and I’m in need of a few ideas on what to buy.
The living room is 23mq, two windows on one wall (with a heater underneath) and a door leading to a small balcony. As you can see from the pictures, there are many wood parts: I’d like to keep them, but they can be removed if necessary. Illumination is provided by spotlights in the roof. The main goal is to have as many seats as possible (I have 5 children), a big angular couch would be perfect.
For instance, as the blueprints indicates, there’s a small column covered by a wood bookcase, I think we could gain a lot of space by replacing it with a day bed. The living room is also the place where we host lunches and dinners with friends, some room should be, thus, saved for a table and chairs.
As for the style, I’d go with a modern one, even though it should match the wooden decorations (if we don’t decide to remove them). I’ve realized the blueprint myself, please contact me in case of doubts or need of further informations and clarifications.

vorrei cambiare i mobili per arredare il mio soggiorno in quanto i mobili attuali erano della casa precedente e non sono abbinati.
Si tratta di 23 mq, con un lato che ha 2 finestre (con sotto termosifone e copritermosifone) e una portafinestra che da su un piccolo balcone.
Come si vede dalle foto i precedenti proprietari hanno messo molte parti in legno che vorrei lasciare ma posso valutare anche il fatto di eliminarle. Nel soffitto ci sono faretti.
In particolare c’è una colonnina indicata nella planimetria coperta da una libreria in legno, eliminando la libreria forse si guadagnerebbe spazio e sarebbe più facile inserire un divano letto angolare.
E’ infatti importante riuscire ad ottenere più posti seduti possibile, attraverso per esempio un grande divano angolare in quanto ho 5 bambini piccoli.
Normalmente mangiamo in cucina ma nel soggiorno mangiamo quando ci sono ospiti.
Per lo stile prediligo lo stile moderno ma vista la presenza del legno non penso possa essere troppo moderno.
La planimetria l’ho fatta io in modo “artigianale” se servono ulteriori info sono a disposizione.
