Tenuto conto delle invarianti come l’ingresso, le finestre e la struttura portante, il progetto risponde alle richieste della committenza che prevedono una più funzionale ripartizione delle superfici dedicate alle varie funzioni già previste nell’attuale configurazione.
La nuova configurazione, come da richieste, prevede un secondo bagno, una camera in più da destinare a studio oppure agli ospiti ed una più funzionale riorganizzazione degli spazi che preveda la dotazione di armadi, cabina armadio, ripostiglio e lavanderia.
Il muro portante trasversale, che per evidenti ragioni non può essere abbattuto, e i suoi quattro varchi esistenti diventa il tema attorno al quale caratterizzare il progetto assumendolo come elemento strutturante l’intera zona giorno.
Dall’ingresso, attrezzato con appendiabiti, svuotatasche ed un armadio-cappottiera dove è possibile riporre scarpe e giubbotti per chi entra o esce, si accede ad un vestibolo aperto che funziona come snodo di tutti i possibili percorsi che conducono alle varie parti dell’appartamento. Verso il lato dell’appartamento che affaccia sulla piazza e in continuità con questo ambiente del quale condivide la larghezza, si apre lo spazio autonomo del pranzo. Autonomo nel senso che non appartiene né alla cucina né al canonico soggiorno-pranzo ma ne occupa l’area intermedia. Il grande spazio plurifunzionale, oltre ad essere diviso funzionalmente (living, pranzo, cucina) lo è anche fisicamente: il muro portante trasversale di cui si è detto, divide il pranzo dal living; la vetrata a tutta altezza divide il pranzo dalla cucina. A rendere unico ma soprattutto fluido questo spazio sono da un lato i due varchi e dall’altro la vetrata. Per sottolineare l’unicità dello spazio i passaggi nel muro sono lasciati liberi (senza infissi di chiusura) e la vetrata si apre con due porte scorrevoli in vetro poste in asse con i passaggi stessi. Il risultato è quello di avere una cucina di fatto separata, una zona pranzo ugualmente utilizzabile per i pasti quotidiani e per quelli con ospiti, un living completamente dedicato al relax e all’intrattenimento multimediale.
Dalla parte opposta del vestibolo si accede direttamente, attraverso un’altra vetrata, allo studio. Nelle intenzioni della committenza questo ambiente si deve potere utilizzare anche come camera per gli ospiti ma anche per varie altre estemporanee attività che nella quotidianità capita di svolgere.
Così come l’ambiente living-pranzo-cucina, anche questo è diviso dal muro portante ma al tempo stesso unito dal quarto varco più largo degli altri. Di fatto la separazione/non separazione suggerisce la divisione fra le funzioni che qui si intendono svolgere: nella parte adiacente il vestibolo la zona lavoro con scrivania e scaffali ma anche una parte lasciata libera di essere occupata per svolgere le varie attività di cui si è detto; oltre il varco la zona più “riparata” dove il divano può trasformarsi in letto per gli ospiti o servire come day-bed su cui ritirarsi a leggere o semplicemente a riposare durante le pause dal lavoro.
Dal vestibolo e attraverso l’ultimo varco nel muro portante, si accede alla zona notte strutturata lungo il corridoio da cui si accede alle due camere da letto, ai due bagni, a una cabina armadio e al ripostiglio/lavanderia. Anche il varco da cui inizia il corridoio è lasciato libero senza infissi di chiusura cosicché dal vestibolo sia possibile apprezzare completamente la presenza del muro portante e di conseguenza “leggerne” la sua natura strutturale e strutturante l’intera configurazione dell’appartamento. Per evidenziare la diversità di questo passaggio che a differenza degli altri introduce a tutta una parte della casa (zona notte), il corridoio mantiene la stessa larghezza del varco annullando la possibilità di intuirne la profondità dell’imbotte (spessore del muro) e la boiserie in legno laccato in continuità con le porte a filo delle camere e con quelle a libro del ripostiglio e della cabina armadio che riveste le pareti del corridoio è colorata interamente con un colore deciso che può essere un rosso carminio o corallo (come disegnato nella prospettiva della tavola 1.a) oppure un altro secondo i gusti e in funzione degli altri materiali, finiture e colori che si vogliono utilizzare.

From the entrance, equipped with coat hangers, pocket emptiers and a wardrobe-coat where it is possible to store shoes and jackets for those entering or leaving, there is access to an open vestibule that functions as a hub for all the possible paths that lead to the various parts of the apartment . Towards the side of the apartment overlooking the square and in continuity with this room of which it shares the width, the independent dining space opens up. Autonomous in the sense that it does not belong to the kitchen or to the canonical living-dining room but occupies the intermediate area. The large multifunctional space, in addition to being functionally divided (living, dining, kitchen) is also physically divided: the transverse bearing wall mentioned above divides the dining room from the living room; the full-height window divides the dining room from the kitchen. To make this space unique but above all fluid are the two openings on one side and the glass window on the other. To emphasize the uniqueness of the space, the passages in the wall are left free (without closing frames) and the window opens with two sliding glass doors placed in line with the passages themselves. Even the opening from which the corridor begins is left free without closing frames so that from the vestibule it is possible to fully appreciate the presence of the load-bearing wall and consequently "read" its structural nature and structuring the entire configuration of the apartment. To highlight the diversity of this passage which unlike the others introduces a whole part of the house (sleeping area), the corridor maintains the same width as the opening, eliminating the possibility of guessing the depth of the upholstery (thickness of the wall) and the boiserie in lacquered wood in continuity with the flush doors of the bedrooms and with the folding doors of the closet and walk-in closet that covers the walls of the corridor is entirely colored with a strong color that can be a carmine red or coral (as drawn in the perspective table 1.a) or another according to tastes and according to the other materials, finishes and colors to be used.
