Attending to your request of having an impressive living room, more spacious and bright, my suggesion is this:
-Demolish the wall between the pilar and the window, and locate an island (snack-bar) in this space. This way, you win space for your kitchen but also generate a great lunch and breakfast area. I belive this kind of solution provides your home with style and a modern touch.
-Demolish the wall between the pilar and the other wall to create a passage to the kitchen. This way, you can close the original entrance to the kitchen, which in my opinion is not well ubicated facing the main entrance.
-Close the original door to the kitchen. As I said before, I believe this kind of solution is not the best one, I don´t agree with having the door to the kitchen facing the main entrance.
I imagine you entring the apartmen and having a reception area whit an entryway table, maybe a closet, and inmediatly face the impressive living room with a great tv area and a small but chic dining room.
With tiny and simple modifications you can achieve a great, more modern appartmen!
The sofa could be a chaise long or a sofa with a puff. Whatever you preffer.
For the TV wall , I suggest a stone facing. I think it will be the "caller" of the decoration.
The colors I suggest are based on the color of the existing floor.
The furniture in the kitchen could also be black. But you said you preffered brown, so there it is.
Please feel free on asking anything you don´t understand or if you have further questions.
I´m at your service.
Hope you like it!
*If you don´t have tiles for completing the floor on the areas of demolition, don´t worry, you can put wood as threshold (doorstep).
