I have recently purchased a two-room apartment in a nice neighborhood; In the corner of De Angeli Sq. and Marghera St.
Two windows open to the square, the other two are on the back where there’s also a balcony.
The apartment is very old both in the interior design and how the space is divided and in the finishings. As you can see on the current floor plan, once you enter, you can find the small living room on the right, next to it there’s the bedroom which is on the traffic congested street, on the back there’s a large kitchen and a small and narrow bathroom.
I intend to completely change the interior design of the apartment, both in sectioning and finishings. At this stage what I am looking for is ideas on how to divide the space and the internal arrangement. I’d like a spacious living area with an open kitchen on the Marghera St. side. I want to have the bedroom on the back.
The bathroom can be moved, (even without a window), or be enlarged at its current position.
I want to have a spacious wardrobe area. Both a separate walk in wardrobe or a large built-in wardrobe (as you can see in the images of references) can work.
I am not very interested in the furniture. What I’m looking for is the sectioning of the spaces, 3d images of the sleeping area, wardrobe zone and bathroom.
I am looking for various suggestions for flooring, windows and finishings.
The apartment is mine, but since I am always travelling I might consider renting it. Maybe this information can be relevant in sectioning the space.
An extra small bedroom would be appreciated, should I have a baby.
Here I describe what “home” means to me, in order to help you with the design.
For me, home is more of a sensation rather than a place, that’s why I have often moved in order to find it. I have lived in many different places, I travel a lot for work, and at the moment I live between three cities.
On the other hand, as a nomad-inside, home is the point of departure; the path to cross before parting again.
Home is a place to bring back the memories of other places.
I have never purchased an object simply because it looked good at a certain place, but rather because I have admired its artcrafts or because it evokes emotions from where I have got it.
Home is where there’s a warm silence, the hues of my stuff next to each other, the ritual of small habits.
Home is the warm light of the day and the evening. Home is never asking “where should I put this?”.
My home should feel like home to others to; I love having people over so I want to the space to be adaptable to guests.
The space I want to design most specifically is the inside of the wardrobes, open and closed spaces that each have an specific purpose. I’d like to have many spaces where I put my stuff away such as drawers, boxes, etc.
Home should be flexible for my objects and furniture to adapt, without needing to say “this doesn’t fit here”.
Home is where I can finally use the drawers nubs that I bought 10 years ago in London and the cushions that I made in the quilting course in America.
Here’s a list of furniture/objects that I want to have (a specific space for) in different spaces of the house:
Bathroom: A place for warm towels, robe hanger, a place for hair dryer, mirror lights, drawers
“Where should I put this?”
Laundry basket, ironing board, clothes horse, home cleaning products, brooms etc.
Wardrobe: Ladder, a place for pijamas and home clothings. mirror
Kitchen: napkins, trash
Bedroom: a dressing table for make-up (as in the reference image), TV
Entrance: Shoes, coats, drawers, scarves, gloves, bags, hats
