The project focuses on the reconfiguration of an existing living unit, in order to design a B&B or a holiday unit that can accommodate bedrooms and a communal area for more visitors.
The design approach aims to be efficient, maintaining a similar configuration to the existing one. The entrance to the unit continues with a hallway that distributes the circulation towards the bedrooms (left side) or the communal area (right side). The 3 new bedrooms, all with a total area of over 14 sqm, have adjoining bathrooms, double beds, storage spaces and natural light.
The communal area accommodates a small open kitchen with a fridge, sink, oven, cooking surface and suspended cabinets. The kitchen continues with a dining area that accommodates up to 8 people. The utilities room occupies the back side of the communal area and contains storage spaces for linen and cleaning products as well as a washing machine.
The project proposal aims to be minimalistic and non-intrusive, meanwhile generating a fluent and operational space that is both functional and aesthetic.
