La struttura in muratura portante, così come la complicata situazione degli affacci e il particolare sviluppo della pianta, rende impossibile modificare le dimensioni degli ambienti : uno sviluppo allungato con la dimensione trasversale di gran lunga inferiore rispetto a quella longitudinale e con gli affacci posizionati alle due estremità di questa. Inoltre, due muri di spina la dividono in tre segmenti più o meno della stessa lunghezza. Quindi l’ambiente centrale, dove c’è l’ingresso, risulta completamente privo di luce ed aria diretta dall’esterno se non per la presenza (visibile nelle foto pubblicate dalla committenza) di una finestra alta posizionata come sopralluce della porta d’ingresso.
Di conseguenza il progetto si è concentrato a posizionare nel modo più reciprocamente omogeneo le destinazioni d’uso richieste in funzione delle particolari caratteristiche dell’immobile sopra descritte ed in funzione della ricerca della luce e dell’aria a queste necessarie.
L’ambiente centrale, quello più penalizzato dalle condizioni di luce precarie, è stato “svuotato” di tutte quelle funzioni e attività che ne prevedono la permanenza stabile più o meno lunga nell’arco della giornata. Il soggiorno-pranzo è stato funzionalmente smembrato in zona living e zona pranzo, la prima è stata portata nel grande ambiente con volta affrescata e fornito di affaccio con balcone, la seconda è stata invece spostata nell’attuale cucina che diventa quindi un ambiente esclusivamente dedicato al pranzo in cui la luce e l’aria arriva direttamente dalla veranda tramite la quale si accede all’unico bagno dell’appartamento che rimane nella sua posizione originale. La cucina viene spostata nell’ambiente adiacente stretto e lungo e fornito di finestra alla sua estremità. L’ambiente centrale sarà quindi destinato ad ingresso, spazio di disimpegno dei vari ambienti e cabina armadio passante a servizio della stanza da letto che viene portata sul soppalco che copre parzialmente l’ambiente centrale. L’altezza del soffitto, anch’esso voltato, permette questa possibilità. Portare la camera da letto in alto sul soppalco consente anche a questo spazio di avere luce diretta grazie alla finestra sopra citata posta ad un’altezza di circa m 2,70.

The load-bearing masonry structure, as well as the complicated situation of the views and the particular development of the plant, make it impossible to change the dimensions of the rooms: an elongated development with the transversal dimension much smaller than the longitudinal one and with the views positioned at two ends of this. In addition, two spine walls divide it into three segments of more or less the same length. So the central environment, where there is the entrance, is completely devoid of light and direct air from the outside except for the presence (visible in the photos published by the client) of a high window positioned as the front door of the entrance .
Consequently, the project focused on positioning in the most mutually homogeneous way the intended uses required according to the particular characteristics of the property described above and according to the search for light and air necessary for these.
The central environment, the one most penalized by the precarious light conditions, has been "emptied" of all those functions and activities that require it to remain stable for a longer or shorter period of time throughout the day. The living-dining room has been functionally dismembered into the living and dining area, the first has been brought into the large room with a frescoed vault and furnished with a balcony, the second has been moved to the current kitchen which therefore becomes an exclusively dedicated environment to lunch where the light and air come directly from the veranda through which you enter the only bathroom of the apartment which remains in its original position. The kitchen is moved to the adjacent narrow and long room with a window at its end. The central area will therefore be used as an entrance, hallway space for the various rooms and a walk-through walk-in closet serving the bedroom which is brought to the mezzanine which partially covers the central area. The height of the ceiling, which is also vaulted, allows this possibility. Bringing the bedroom up on the mezzanine also allows this space to have direct light thanks to the aforementioned window located at a height of about 2.70 m.
