Description

The design proposal aims to maximize the space usage with minimal interventions to the existing services and structure - respecting the budget and providing a new aesthetic environment. While retaining the framework for the railing and the metallic structure, we have proposed to add similar MS hollow square sections running vertically after regular intervals. In addition to this, we have designed similar horizontal square sections running along the perimeter of the balcony - acting like a pergola and providing space and support for plant creepers and hanging pots. This organic buffer acts as a natural screen shading device to protect the balcony from the harsh sunlight. This provides a semi-open verandah feeling to the terrace balcony. Given the Covid-19 situation where everyone is confided at home, we propose to maximize the usability of this semi-open area- doubling up as a lounge, reading, dining, working, gardening, relaxing - mixed use space, a much needed requirement in this time of social distancing and isolation!
