Description

Taking into consideration the client´s request, and after exchanging with him a few ideas, I adopted the following configuration.

An integrated space with just a few imperceptible options to generate privacy when needed.

Lengthwise, transform half of the sloping roof into a skylight, by adding glass. Strategically placing the kitchen under the skylight will allow plenty of natural light to come through.

A partition is used to separate the bedroom from the atelier. The sides of the bedroom could also get total privacy by adding sliding wooden partitions, while, when keeping them open, the space will benefit from natural light.

One more partition located at the entrance will give a framework to the dining room, help sketch the access to the house, and also demarcate the reception where to hang the coats, leave the keys or keep the post.

The living area features a fireplace, which is located in the center of the house. This way the heat will be distributed throughout the whole space. With the pipes (chimney) going through the mezzanine, also this space will be nicely warmed up.

The bathroom is not part of the area requested by the client.

Due to the nature of this property and to respect its own character, I suggest to preserve the spaces open and free, keeping storage spaces either in the dining room, the kitchen or in drawers under the bed.
