Description

I tried to design a warm, comfortable and friendly coffee shop following the client's requests (light colors, wood) with a "Scandinavian style". The coffee shop is designed both for children and for adults, using playful elements (swings, colors,...) without being banal or too childish. I took advantage of the lack of windows using benches against the wall. The bench allows to optimize the small space and creates a more flexible coffee shop (using the benches you can create a huge free space in the center of the seating area). I don't like Ikea and Maisons du Monde's benches because I think that they are too much anonymous, so I designed a bench with recycled pallets (cheap, a little bit original and ecologically virtuous). I designed bookshelfs with recycled pallets too. I used swings because I think that can be an original and playful element. Another playful element is the blackboard that can be used for children's drawings and for comunicate an offer (for example the menu).
The lack of windows obliges to use light colors (white) and the wooden elements create a less cold space (I used 2 kind of wood: white wood and natural wood). For the floor I mixed in a quite original way two kinds of tiles: hexagonal and "wood effect" tiles (they divide the floor in two area: the seating area and the counter area). I designed the counter using four volumes: a white base, the counter (natural wood), another volume (white wood) and the fourth volume (glass). The counter's design follows the form of the floor. In the end I used chairs, tables and lamps (suspensions) of the same brand (Maisons du Monde). I prefer squared tables because I think that create a more flexible interior space (you can place side by side the tables and create more covers).
I tried to create a warm space using original and playful elements without being too much childish or banal. This coffee shop can be used for adults too.
