Description

The main purpose of design is to create a modern house inspired by the traditional style of the area.

When someone parks can either enter in the house or head straight to the exterior spaces. There is an entrance hall with a closet and a desk. Next to this there is a wc which serves the ground floor. Afterwards there is an open living area with sitting area, dinning area and a kitchen with island. At the center of this space can be placed a fireplace stove. The kitchen has an island and you can choose if you will keep an open plan or if you will separate it with the rest living area (in my opinion it would be better to keep it as the renders). Afterwards someone can head to the exterior spaces which work as an extension of the interior. There is an exterior dining, an exterior living, an exterior kitchen (with pergola) and a pool area. Upstairs there is a hall with storage from which you can access the bedroom room, the bathroom, the master bedroom and a balcony which works as a more private exterior living. At the basement there is a storage room, a bathroom, a library/study area, a secondary living area and a guest room with a high window for ventilation and sunlight. The idea for the basement is to create a flexible space with privacy which can either host a guest or work as quiet and cozy study space or even a mini cinema space.

At the ground floor plan there is option B with few differences. Firstly there is a different proposal for the form and shape of the staircase. Also you can see that there is a different distribution at the sitting area where I have put a corner sofa (at the first option I propose a linear one which could be also built, as shown at the renders). The biggest difference of this option is about the exterior space where the interior literally expands to the exterior and a pergola covers the exterior kitchen, dinning and living. In my opinion the interior space has big openings and is feeling like being outdoors. For this reason at the first option I have only put a pergola detached from the building at the exterior kitchen and the exterior dining and sitting area have only the shading of the olive tree. At the second option a pergola which is attached at the building covers the exterior kitchen, dinning and living. At this solution the interior space may gets to dark. For this reason I propose and show at the renders the solution of option A.

As for the design I tried to keep traditional forms like the arc and the roof. However I wanted to propose them in a different and modern way. This is why I put minimal frames and I create a skylight at the rooftop.

I have chosen materials with bright colors and natural texture in order to create “natural” and calm atmosphere.

At last the goal is to create a functional house which focus at the exterior living.
