First of all wanted to enlarge the area connected to the backyard. The hall is closer to the main entrance in the new plan and dinning room crossed to the other side of the hall. There is two different user scenarios in the house:
1. Owners of the house or staff use garage entrance. Kitchen, laundry and mudroom are far from main entrance and just next to the garage as functionally needed. Spaces which need sanitary is closer to this side. It is better technically.
Kitchen has one more opening to the dinning room. Breakfast area's direct relation with dinner and great room can be cancelled by closing this door.
2. Guests use main entrance. Coat closet for guests, huge door of great room and entrance of basement stairs can be realized clearly in this wide space.
I locate this room and especially huge door of the room to the centre of the whole house. I imagine this space as a well decorated focal point. It needs to be symmetric. It should be the first stop before going to dinner in dinning, party in backyard, piano recital in the other side of the room.
