Project description

This interior is conceived as a continuous spatial narrative where sculptural form, material warmth, and functional clarity are carefully balanced into a unified architectural language.

At the heart of the concept is the idea of fluid centrality. The spiral staircase acts not only as a vertical circulation element, but as a spatial sculpture—an anchor that organizes movement and visual hierarchy. Its monolithic, curved form contrasts yet harmonizes with the otherwise orthogonal layout, introducing a dynamic tension between geometry and flow. This establishes a strong identity for the space, transforming circulation into experience.

The spatial logic is open but subtly zoned. The living area, kitchen, and circulation paths are visually connected, allowing light to travel freely across the interior. At the same time, changes in material, ceiling articulation, and furniture placement define micro-environments without the need for physical barriers. The fireplace wall becomes a secondary focal point, grounding the living zone and reinforcing a sense of intimacy within the openness.

A key architectural strategy is the integration of functional spaces—office, laundry, and pantry—into the wall system. Rather than expressing these as separate rooms, they are concealed behind full-height panels finished in the same material as the surrounding walls. This creates a seamless envelope where doors are flush, handle-less, and visually continuous. The result is a clean, uninterrupted surface that enhances the minimalist character while maintaining full functionality. This approach reduces visual noise and emphasizes the purity of form.

Materiality plays a crucial role in defining the atmosphere. The palette is restrained but rich:

* Natural wood (flooring, cabinetry, wall panels) provides warmth and continuity.
* Stone (fireplace cladding) introduces texture and a sense of permanence.
* Metal elements (staircase, furniture frames) add precision and contrast.
* Soft textiles (rugs, curtains, upholstery) balance the harder surfaces and improve acoustic comfort.

This combination creates a dialogue between modern refinement and natural tactility. The materials are left honest and expressive—wood shows its grain, stone its irregularity—avoiding excessive treatment or artificial finishes.

Lighting is designed to be layered and indirect, emphasizing surfaces rather than fixtures. Integrated linear lights in the kitchen and soft wall lighting around the fireplace enhance textures and create a calm, ambient environment, especially in evening scenarios.

Overall, the concept is driven by three principles:

1. Continuity – seamless transitions between spaces and functions
2. Integration – hidden functional elements within architectural surfaces
3. Material authenticity – a balance of modern precision and natural warmth

The result is an interior that feels both sophisticated and grounded—minimal in expression, yet rich in spatial and material experience.
