The main goal of the proposal was to maximize the space maxing the apartment rentable for a family with 2 kids. The space for the kids is envisioned as a "nest" above the sofa, therefore keeping a clean bedroom for the adults that can benefit of natural lighting. Given this solution the remaining open space can be used by the whole family and the apartment can also be rented by 2 people without any problems. Whereas the apartment is pretty small, creating additional bedrooms would result in unusable spaces and additional costs in refurbishing the bathroom or kitchen. All living spaces including kitchen would require natural lighting given the legislation and common sense, case in which the only option for creating another bedroom would be sacrificing a larger portion of the bathroom and kitchen. Even so in order to have a minimum distance for beds and traveling space ( min. 3m) , the living area would be compromised. We do believe this to be the optimal solution for hosting up to 6 people in the given space, making it also usable as a living and dining area for the same amount of people during the day. The colors are light and the kitchen has been calculated in order to fit the existing modules. We reccomend a wooden like floor with waterproof properties. A clip-floor is affordable and easy to put over the existing one.
