To satisfy the demands there was the necessity to change significantly the structure of the apartment.
There was the need to find an innovative solution, not conform to the classical conception of living, in order to preserve and value the complex but extremely interesting forms that the plan proposed, I present a proposal as possible attractive and interesting, that not creates just functional spaces, but with a character and a value not only aesthetic but also architectural.
Each space takes up a very specific part of the apartment, suggested by the forms of the plant, on the left the bathroom, easily accessible and sufficiently reserved with forms large and comfortable, where it is satisfied both the desire for a comfortable bath tub and the space for the washing machine and the related cabinet; in the centre the living area with kitchen, directly accessible from the entrance, constantly and naturally lighted up, with an easy size but in the same time domestic and welcoming; on the right the bedroom with the study and the master bedroom, much more intimate and secluded.
In particular for the study area it is proposed the use of a chair-bed and a curtain to have the opportunity to use this space as a guest room, providing privacy especially at night; overall a space as flexible as possible, and that sometimes can be transformed into guest room by a soft solutions, without altering the primary function. It should be highlighted the essential and very characteristic role of the illuminated facade located to the west side.
To maximize the spaces the corridor was completely eliminated and replaced by the continuous presence of the illuminated wall that accompanies the movement from room to room through the succession of points of natural light. Each space is in the same time autonomous and part of the whole, intimate, self-sufficient, but also easily accessible and in close communication with the heart of the house: the living area.
To distinguish the spaces, in addition to the presence of sliding doors, it is thought a pavement placed on the same level to give unity to the spaces, but with different materials to emphasize and characterize them.
The column and beams become an integral part of the kitchen, necessary to define the space, so do the ceiling lowered, also present in the bathroom, where to put the technical spaces, ventilation and lights. On the wall between the two there is the water system so optimized and in common to both the spaces.
The angles required several and specific treatment, in the study the angle was fully covered by a wardrobe in order to exploit the blind wall, in the room the angle was straighten, while in the living room the desire to give them a value and an architectural form which emphasized the profile of the wall is prevailed, so I decided a lower element, which turns into spaces containers, chairs, desk, shoe and support points, easily made concrete during the renovation
The materials used are warm and natural, basically I propose a light wood and less carved, both for the furniture and for the floors of the living and sleeping areas, a stone, like gres, always in warm colours in the bathroom to give brightness and elegance to the space and to be easy cleaned and the concrete for the wall unit, the island and the kitchen flooring, easily malleable during the construction and hygiene during use.
The choice in the use of materials like wood and concrete creates a pleasing contrast between nature and artifice, hot and cold, sophistication and simplicity to emphasize the family atmosphere.
We would like to have the marriage between the functional and architectural, comfortable and beautiful, welcomed and refined to accompany all the living space.

Nel tentativo di assecondare le richieste fatte c’è stata la necessità di modificare sensibilmente l’assetto dell’appartamento.
Vi è stata l’esigenza di ricercare una soluzione innovativa e non conforme alla concezione classica di abitare, al fine di preservare e valorizzare le forme complesse ma estremamente interessanti che la pianta proponeva, si presenta un proposta il più possibile accattivante e interessante, che non si limiti a creare spazi funzionali, ma unici, con un carattere e un valore non solo estetico ma anche architettonico.
Ogni ambiente occupa una parte ben specifica dell’appartamento, suggerito dalle forme stesse della pianta: a sinistra il bagno, facilmente accessibile ma al contempo sufficientemente riservato e dalle forme ampie e confortevoli, in cui viene soddisfatto sia il desiderio di una comoda vasca che la necessità di uno spazio per la lavatrice e il relativo armadio; nello spazio centrale la zona living con cucina, direttamente accessibile dall’ingresso, con illuminate in modo costante e naturale, dalle dimensioni agevoli ma al contempo domestiche e accoglienti; a destra la zona notte con lo studio e la camera matrimoniale, decisamente più intima e appartata.
In particolare per la zona studio si propone l’utilizzo di una poltrona letto e di un tendaggio per poter sfruttare questo ambiente come camera degli ospiti, garantendo una maggiore privacy specialmente nelle ore notturne; nel complesso uno spazio il più possibile flessibile, che saltuariamente e tramite soluzioni soft possa essere trasformato in guest room, senza snaturarne la funzione primaria.
Va evidenziato il ruolo essenziale e estremamente caratterizzante della facciata illuminata posta ad ovest.
Nel tentativo di massimizzare gli spazi il corridoio è stato completamente eliminato e sostituito dalla presenza continua della parete illuminata che accompagna il movimento da una stanza all’altra tramite il susseguirsi di punti di luce naturale. Ogni ambiente è così contemporaneamente autonomo e parte del tutto, intimo, autosufficiente, ma anche facilmente accessibile e in stretta comunicazione con il cuore pulsante della casa: la zona living.
Per distinguere gli spazi, oltre alla presenza di porte scorrevoli, è stata pensata una pavimentazione posta sullo stesso livello per dare unitarietà agli ambienti, ma con diversi materiali per sottolinearli e caratterizzarli.
La colonna e le travi diventano parte integrante della cucina, necessarie per definirne lo spazio, così anche il controsoffitto ribassato, presente anche in bagno, ospita gli spazi tecnici, di areazione e i punti luce. Nella parete fra i due si posizionano gli agganci dell’acqua così ottimizzati e in comune ai due ambienti.
Gli angoli di ampiezza inconsueta hanno richiesto trattamenti diversi e specifici a seconda delle necessità, se nello studio l’angolo è stato interamente coperto da una cabina armadio in modo da sfruttare la parete cieca, nella camera è stato regolarizzato e nel soggiorno è prevalso il desiderio di dar loro una valenza e una forma architettonica che risaltasse il profilo della parete, per questo si è pensato ad un elemento basso, che si trasformi in spazi contenitori, sedute, scrivania, scarpiera e punti d’appoggio, facilmente costruibile in cemento al momento della ristrutturazione.
I materiali utilizzati sono caldi e naturali, tendenzialmente si propone un legno chiaro e poco trattato, sia per i mobili che per le pavimentazioni di soggiorno e zona notte, un gres sempre dai colori caldi in bagno per dare luminosità ed eleganza all’ambiente e per facilitarne la pulizia e il cemento per il mobile a parete, l’isola e la pavimentazione della cucina, facilmente plasmabile al momento della costruzione e igienico durante l’utilizzo.
La scelta nell’uso dei materiali come il legno e il calcestruzzo crea un gradevole contrasto tra natura e artificio, caldo e freddo, ricercatezza e semplicità per accentuare il clima famigliare.
Un matrimonio fra funzionale e architettonico, comodo e bello, accogliente e ricercato che vorremmo accompagnasse tutto lo spazio abitativo.
