We are currently remodeling our kitchen to accommodate what has become a large family needing to seat 16 people in the kitchen. While this requires a practical design and the house is Greek Revival in general app, we are also very innovative and desire something to be created that is beautiful and memorable in keeping with that theme. We are creating an art theme of lemons and limes, with a color palette that follows their natural colors. The stove/oven needs to stay where it currently is, but everything else can be designed from a clear sheet knowing the following information:
– The table to seat the 16 people will be custom built so be creative on its dimensions and how it fits into the space. We are sensitive to people feeling “trapped” at the table if it is too close to a wall or another fixture.
– We need to maximize the working areas as 3-4 people could have their own work zones to prep food.
– Storage for large appliances will be required, as well as efficiently utilizing every bit of the space for storage.
– The three rooms to the left (not counting the bathroom) are being combined to form the new kitchen. The old laundry room is being expanded to be even with the bathroom left wall (not shown, but will be constructed that way) and converted to a single door pantry
– An area should be dedicated to espresso and tea service, we enjoy that as a family
– Two dishwashers are required and need to be in arms reach of the sink
– A microwave should be mounted at eye level
– Two refrigerators will be in the room a 48″ side by side and 36″ refrigeration only, counter depth
– Maximizing counter seating is seen as an advantage
Update: I added some photos of what it looks like today
