GOAL
The apartment needs a complete renovation, mainly related to the interior design part.
Rooms and walls location will keep the current structure and position, as you can see from the plan attached. The apartment is a 1-bedroom apartment with a separate kitchen.
This contest is focused on interior design: graphic renders to see materials, colors and furniture selection/placement.
The goal is to share a design and furniture proposal aligned with the brief and the moodboard, in order to give the apartment a unique touch and a distinctive character, based on the budget.
The list of fornitures that you will provide has to include the name of the product and the shop or website where I can buy it. Please consider I live in Italy and the website or shop must be accessible from here and/or ship here.
THE APARTMENT AND WHO’S GOING TO LIVE IT
The apartment is located in Milan, Tortona district, in an elegant building from the ‘50, stylish and well-maintained. The goal is to give the apartment a fresh and elegant look while, at the same time, using bright colors to create interesting contrasts which represent the property owner’s style.
The owner is a 35 y.o. guy, sportsman and good-food lover. He decided to keep the current structure to save important renovation works. The kitchen has a separate room in order to have space to cook but also to have a quick meal (breakfast or lunch) when needed.
ROOMS IN DETAILS:
LIVING
A mixed eclectic style, with plants, velvet, colored paintings, which stands out by bright color-contrasts.
The floor is warm, pine-wooden, in order to walk barefoot on it. There must be a comfortable and wide sofa which can host two people easily. A bookcase piece of furniture is very appreciated (around 100 books).
KITCHEN
The kitchen has its separate room, right at the entrance. It has to be a linear kitchen, it’s easier on the left side of the room but it could also be on the right side, moving the plumbings). To have enough space to store food & equipment, a sideboard with a glass display would be very useful in front of the kitchen. Beside the sideboard/cabinet, there are two options:
A table with a few chairs.
A snack-bar with a few stools.
ENTRANCE / CORRIDOR
At the moment, I have no specific ideas about how to use this space. It would be great to add some value to this part of the apartment. Minor masonry works can be done in this area to make it more functional / charming (i.e. the small wall which divide the space from the kitchen can be removed).
No need for big and bulky wardrobes which make the space look smaller and are pretty expensive to buy and create. Better to play with lights, shapes and colors to create fascinating access to the apartment.
BEDROOM
The style of the room just needs to be fresh, clean and aligned with the rest of the apartment. A queen bed would be ok.
BATHROOM
The bathroom needs a complete transformation. A comfortable shower is required. No bath-tub. I would love to use “mortex” to cover sink and shower surfaces. The base of the sink can be built with bricks and then covered with mortex. The sink will be placed upon it. On the floor, tiles with contrasting colors would be perfect.
BUDGET AND OTHER CONSTRAINTS:
Budget to cover finishing materials and furniture is around 30.000 Eur. I do not plan to buy expensive and rare pieces of furniture. The goal is to play with colors and shapes to create a nice effect, without spending a lot for single pieces.
A pine-wooden floor (as in the mood board) is very appreciated.
Windows will be recovered. They are made with wood and color can be changed.
No need for big renovation works like walls demolition and reconstruction or lowering the ceilings.
