A Home Shaped by the Land – Contemporary Living in Sedona
This modern residence, located in Sedona, is thoughtfully designed to sit harmoniously on a sloped terrain, blending seamlessly with the natural topography. The structure reaches a height of 22 feet and features a flat roof, contributing to its clean, contemporary aesthetic.
A key design element is the garage, which follows the natural slope of the land. Its exit leads directly into the center of the house, supporting an open-plan layout and enhancing interior flow. While traditional fencing was intentionally omitted, privacy has been carefully considered through strategic placement of walls, landscaping, and elevation differences.
Eco-friendly materials, such as natural stone and sustainable wood cladding, were chosen throughout. A standout feature of the home is the rammed earth fireplace wall, which not only adds textural warmth but also offers thermal mass and a connection to the region’s building traditions.
Daylight access was a priority during the design process. All rooms are arranged to maximize natural light, with large windows positioned to enhance both brightness and views. SEdon
