Hi, we are Mirko and Emily, and we would like to renovate our house to give it a more modern look, blending industrial and Nordic/Scandinavian styles. By “modern,” we mean a cozy home with vibrant colors—not necessarily aligned with current trends (like lacquered furniture or sterile environments).
We love true vintage—sourced market by market—and we are passionate about cycling, nature, and sports. We have a dog and hope to have children in the future, so definitely no parquet or glossy floors.
The furniture you will see in the pictures can either be recycled partially or not at all, it belonged to the previous owner.
We’d like to change the flooring entirely, perhaps opting for light wood-effect porcelain tiles to use in all rooms. We also want to remove some walls to create a more open space for the kitchen and living room. If possible, we’d love to include a walk-in closet in the master bedroom.
We want to get rid of the existing kitchen and change it entirely, but we can’t move it to a different location, as we don’t want to alter the plumbing system. We would definitely like an island. In the living room, we’d like a bookshelf and sofas arranged near the fireplace, along with a TV area. The sofa should either be a pull-out bed or have ottomans for comfortably resting feet.
We have a small piano, and we would like to keep the crate in the living room for our dog.
The windows do not need to be replaced as they are still in good condition.
We’d like to completely redo the bathrooms. In the larger bathroom, we’d keep the current layout and furniture but repaint the existing cabinet. In the smaller bathroom, we’d like to add a shower and relocate the bidet next to the toilet (see attached picture).
The electrical system needs a complete overhaul, so we have total freedom to add new lighting points, electrical outlets, or TV antenna points.
We’d like to prepare for air conditioning installation in the living room and bedrooms.
We want to keep the fireplace but install a compliant one.
One of the rooms will be dedicated to a fitness gym, where we can run and work out.
The other room will be a guest room for now (a child’s bedroom in the future).
We also need a desk to work from home, for one person, up to you where to put it 🙂
We don’t need a washing machine because we have a large space downstairs for laundry and storage.
