Vulcano Island 2026

This architectural design proposal presents a comprehensive renovation strategy for Villa Catenesi, a multi-unit residential property situated on the volcanic island of Vulcano in the Aeolian archipelago. The villa occupies a privileged position with direct sightlines to the active volcano — a defining characteristic that shapes our entire design philosophy.

The renovation addresses four primary objectives:
– Transform underutilised outdoor and indoor spaces into high-quality living and rental environments
– Unlock independent rental potential for upper and lower floor units
– Create a cohesive Mediterranean aesthetic rooted in local building traditions
– Integrate the villa into a broader three-villa shared recreational estate

Design Philosophy & Concept
Our design concept, titled "Fuoco e Pietra" (Fire and Stone), draws from the elemental landscape of Vulcano — the raw volcanic geology, the Mediterranean light, the therapeutic sulphur springs, and the vernacular architecture of the Aeolian islands.
