Façade Design
To enhance both performance and appearance, the existing exterior walls will be fully cladded. By thus, improving thermal performance and efficiency as well as allowing the outer façade appearance to be re-sculpted and shaped without significant alterations to the original structure. the façade itself is divided into two main sections:
- Upper Section: Cladded with WPC or wood planks, designed to blend seamlessly with the exterior ceiling of the roof.
- Lower Section: Finished with mechanically installed and painted cement boards.
Architectural Modifications
Only minor adjustments have been introduced, primarily at the front and rear entrances, to define the house accessibility and elevate the overall aesthetic. These include protruding the entrances with metal cladding and removing a small portion of the existing wall to incorporate a larger glass curtain wall.
Roof Material Options
Two proposals for the Roof material have been proposed. A proposal for Roof shingles and another for corrugated metal sheets. Both alternatives offer a more contemporary appearance compared to the existing terracotta tiles. Regardless of the choice, the façade design remains compatible and harmonious with either the current roof or the proposed replacements.
Metal Roof Edge and Gutter Integration
The metal roof edge serves as both a functional and aesthetic transition between the roof and the façade. Its 45 cm depth conceals the rain gutter, increase its reach and minimizes the visibility and number of downspouts. A dedicated recess within the wall cladding allows for embedding up to two downspouts per section—as well as other MEP elements—to be discreetly integrated and hidden while remaining accessible for maintenance.
