transform the den into the favorite room in the house

Briefing

In search of a way to make this the gathering spot for family and guests. This is the first room to enter from the garage. Has access to kitchen and dining room on either side of the fireplace. Also has sliding door access to the deck. Need a clever way/place to store coats, shoes and bags near the door that accesses the garage. Would prefer to keep paint color. Planning to move existing furniture into another room. Need new furniture and lighting suggestions. Clever places to store children's toys is a plus.
