Description

The following design expresses the merging of a simple bedroom with a home office. In order to maintain clearance for circulation around the room, proper arrangement of the furniture was necessary, resulting, for instance, in changing the positioning of the bed. The office desk was placed against the window to benefit from natural lighting, thus sparing energy consumption, as well as to comfortably accommodate two working people. If the natural light is excessive and disturbs the view, a blind could solve this problem, as was foreseen in the project. In case artificial lighting is needed, two wall lights were positioned for both workspaces. Additionally, shelves were installed at each side of the office space to store books, objects or documents. An important remark is necessary for the right shelf, as a 15 cm deep niche is used, thus demanding that the respective wall is previously checked for structural function or the presence of tubing. The wooden top of the desk is supported by two easels, which contain supporting surfaces underneath, facilitating the storage of a desktop or any larger object. In addition, the cabinet was replaced by a smaller one and a mirror was added to one of the doors. The free space between the cabinet and the room entrance was designed to accommodate objects already existent in the room, as noticed in the provided pictures. To create a more comfortable atmosphere, a floating L shaped shelf was placed over the bed, where decorative elements such as paintings, photographs or books can be arranged for display. As requested, the color of the bed was maintained and reproduced in determined elements such as shelves in order to create an aesthetical integrity in the room. I hope you enjoy the proposed design!
