Residential - living area
Briefing
Thank You in advance for taking a look at my contest and for any work you may perform to win it.
We purchased this townhouse in a neighborhood with a great school district last year so that our 4 year old son could start school in the Fall of 2014. Before we move in, we'd like to remodel the living area downstairs into our ideal living space. We'll also be repainting the interior of the entire house. Since we're located in the USA, and most of the designers are in Europe, all furniture recommendations can come from IKEA. Here's a breakdown of each section of the living area. Overall, we really like that the floorplan of this townhouse is so open and don't want to interrupt the flow when moving from the living room to the dining area to the kitchen. NOTE: The first four photos are of the actual townhouse, the last photos are from another unit of the same model.
Living Room
Wall color - light blue or grey
We will be removing the carpet and installing a DARK wood.
We'd like the living room to be able to seat our family of three in front of the 55" TV (If the TV is too large for the space, we can always buy a smaller TV).
It'd be nice to be able to hide the TV when it's not in use, but I understand that might be difficult
We'd also like additional seating for guests
We'd also like to have a lot of storage in the living room for my son's toys. We currently have six IKEA Besta Wall units (two of the posted photo) in black/brown color that we can incorporate, or not if you feel something else would be better.
We also want the area to be open so we'd probably want end tables instead of a center coffee table
Dining Room
We'd like to place a dining room table in the area between the living room and kitchen (where the keyboard is located in the photos)
We're thinking of having a banquette similiar to the Hayden banquette in the reference photo
We also would like the dining room table to be a pedestal table to allow more comfortable seating
We also need chair recommendations in addition to the banquette
Kitchen
We will probably be resurfacing the existing cabinets in a darker color and replacing the linoleum with dark tile on the floor
We will also be replacing the counters with a light colored surface (quartz or marble)
We also like white subway tiles for the back splash
We also like the big white kitchen sinks.
The reference photo with the dark cabinets and white counters is something we really like.
We would like a kitchen table with a banquette similar to the Linon Moda Grey Corner Banquette that I included as reference. The long piece would be placed against the kitchen window.
We also would like a pedestal kitchen table similiar to the referenced table (does not need to be yellow).
We're also thinking of placing the IKEA Stenstorp Kitchen island.
We're looking for lighting options (probably replacing large ceiling light with canister lights)
Also, we need light options for the kitchen table and the kitchen island (we'd like some hanging type of lights coming down from the ceiling.
Power Room/Half Bathroom
We definitely want to add some color to this white bathroom
It is located off of the kitchen so something that complements the kitchen would be ideal
Maybe some tile on the walls
We may also want to replace the pedestal sink with a sink with some storage.
