Viterbo, VT, Italia
Commercial - Hotel
Project Goal: To transform a historical Italian building into a distinctive boutique hotel, blending authentic historical character with modern luxury and flexible accommodations, catering to both individual travelers and families.
Interior Design Philosophy: Interiors will be designed to maximize space and functionality while exuding a bespoke boutique aesthetic. Key features include utilizing deep window recesses for functional elements like desks, and integrating creative storage solutions (such as under-stairs) to maintain clear floor plans.
Flexible Room Configurations (7 Rooms Total): The hotel will feature a total of seven rooms, each designed for individual booking and equipped with its own luxurious en-suite bathroom. A core aspect of the design is the flexibility to cater to varying guest needs:
Individual & Double Occupancy: All rooms are available for individual use. Specifically, Rooms 1, 2, 4, 5,6, and 7 are designed to interconnect, offering a convenient double room option for guests seeking a larger space.
Expansive Family Suites: six specific rooms within the hotel are strategically designed to be combined, creating spacious family suites. These suites will feature:
Separate Sleeping Areas: A main area for parents and a dedicated children's sleeping area.
Internal Staircase: An elegant, space-saving internal staircase connecting different levels within the family suite.
Under-Stair Solutions: Creative use of the under-stair sloped area for "storage/closet" space, ensuring critical headroom requirements are met.
Dedicated Bathrooms: Each family suite will ideally offer multiple bathrooms,
Family Room Feature: For example, Room 1 is designated as a family room, featuring a sofa bed that converts into an additional bed, providing extra sleeping capacity.
Exterior Renovation Concept: The exterior renovation focuses on respecting and enhancing the building's heritage. The facade will feature a sophisticated approach with restored natural stone on the side elevation (reflecting original construction) and a tasteful, smooth gray stucco render on the main front elevation. All original architectural details, such as windows, doors, and the balcony, will be meticulously restored or replaced with historically sensitive, energy-efficient equivalents. Exterior lighting will be thoughtfully integrated, employing a simple, understated horizontal strip lighting design to define the building's contours and provide a warm, inviting glow, complemented by subtle interior lighting visible from windows.
This project aims to deliver a memorable and adaptable guest experience, leveraging the building's unique history to create a truly exceptional boutique hotel.
